At Tessian (formerly CheckRecipient), we have the ambitious goal of protecting enterprise networks against new and intelligent cyber threats, making it impossible for sensitive information to end up in the wrong hands.

Through advanced machine learning and natural language processing (NLP), Tessian prevents breaches in real-time, outsmarting traditional rule-based, admin-intensive approaches which can only report a breach after it has occurred.

We’re recruiting Business Development Managers to help supercharge our company’s growth. This is a unique direct sales opportunity to work with world-class customers to develop game-changing information security software that will transform how organisations protect their information.

You'll have a high IQ and EQ, who’s a world class communicator and who relishes the thought of originating, navigating and executing high value accounts with senior level management, IT, Information Security and Compliance stakeholders.

Our Business Development team are 'full stack' operators, working on deals from lead generation through to close. Our team is agile - and opportunities for progression don't have an upper limit. A really fantastic team member could easily find themselves managing a team of their own in a year's time and closing large-scale enterprise deals.

Whilst it'll vary with your level and experience, day-to-day activities are likely to include:

Leading product demonstrations and client meetings with senior executives

Navigating through complex sales cycles with some of the most prestigious companies across the UK and North America

Independently leading and managing a sales pipeline

Producing ad-hoc marketing and sales documentation

Reporting on sales activity and revenue forecasts

Proactively sourcing new leads and new business opportunities

Collaborating with team members and finding strategic ways to win business

Researching accounts to understand need, enable effective follow up, and generate interest.

Successfully managing and overcoming prospect objections.

Building strong relationships.

Looking for opportunities to improve and optimise outbound lead management with our Inside Sales team



A self starter, ability to work under his/her own initiative

Highly credible and articulate face-to-face, over the phone, and via email

A confident persona and someone who loves building relationships with others

Ability to deliver extraordinary customer relationships

Highly intelligent individual, comfortable with technology and software

Professional, determined, and results oriented

Highly Desirable:

Previous cybersecurity/technology or professional services related experience

Previous B2B/ Enterprise sales experience

Previous SaaS sales experience

Previous experience working in a start-up

Degree from a top tier university

Previous experience carrying quota and track record of consistently beating target

Previous account management, inside sales or direct sales experience

Our Hiring Process

We know you're busy and like to know what to expect from us, so here's our process:

We screen initial applications - CVs & Cover Letters (hint: We like to see well-written cover letters & we love to see your numbers; did you outperform your targets? Tell us just how much!)

We do initial screening calls with our Hiring and Business Development teams, to assess experience, fit and competencies. We want to know what interests you about the position, both in the type of role, and with Tessian specifically

We then have candidates complete a practical exercise in preparation for a final interview

Final face to face interview

And that's it! Sometimes we need to do subsequent calls/ coffee-meetings if members of the team are unavailable for the original face-to-face, but we try to keep our process short and sweet!


The exact salary will depend on the specific candidate but we expect a range for base salary of £35,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)

Performance incentives: OTE of £70,000 - £140,000 (i.e. bonuses of c. 100% of base salary, based on sales quotas)
